Las Vegas runs on illusion, so Halloween here is basically a home game. Here’s where to get your scares.

The Palms: The Haunted Inn. Check-in is at an antique front desk, which already sounds like a Stephen King plot. It’s a free, 21-and-over pop-up with roaming ghouls, live séances, and cocktails served in blood bags. Palms also advertises free self-parking and valet, a rarity around here (that alone is the scariest plot twist of the season). The menu includes Todd’s Murder Burger and Cupcake Massacre. It runs Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. through October 31.

Universal Horror Unleashed. Think Halloween Horror Nights, minus the humidity of Orlando and plus a bar. Four houses (Scarecrow: The Reaping, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Universal Monsters, and Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer) are surrounded by themed bars and live entertainment. The Universal Monsters date back to Dracula in 1931, so Leatherface is the young one in the room. Nevada residents get a $10 discount on one-time-access tickets, so bring ID.
Escape IT. Locals can float down to Derry for the price of one ticket. Both chapters are $59.99 through October 31, with new scenes and beefed-up effects. Expect the Neibolt House, Jade of the Orient, and Pennywise’s lair. Bring a friend who can hold your hand and not your balloon.
John Wick Experience. Their big Masquerade is Friday, October 23, from 7:30 to 11 p.m. at AREA15. Black tie and a mask are required. Dress like you’ve got a contract and a very good tailor. Details here.
For the chill crowd. Not everyone wants to be chased by a chainsaw. Horror Vibes serves coffee and pastries with actual seating, so you can recover in peace. The Haunted Tea Room sells tea to sip while you browse, with no sit-down experience, so it’s more of a drive-by brew.
